The decision

## Choose around the work after the forecast

Choose Lemon when your team needs both a forward view of cohort value and a stronger pipeline of creative experiments. Cohort Prediction helps evaluate future revenue and payback; Creative Intelligence helps investigate the assets, creative choices, and new directions behind acquisition. These are complementary workflows in one product, not a claim that every creative brief is generated from an LTV forecast.

Kohort is a serious specialist in mobile-gaming acquisition. Its [Ktrl launch announcement](https://kohort.io/blog/ktrl-launch) describes predicted-LTV signals, daily network-specific bidding targets, and campaign monitoring. If daily bid and ROAS-target recommendations are your central requirement, evaluate that workflow directly.

**Lemon's case is broader decision coverage:** understand acquired-user value, investigate creative performance, and give the creative team a concrete next experiment without making a forecasting tool responsible for all three jobs.

Lemon and Kohort

## Compare forecasting and creative strategy separately

A forecast workspace, a bidding recommendation, and a creative brief are different deliverables. Choose the combination your growth team will actually use.

| Decision | Lemon AI | Kohort |
| ---------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| What might these users earn? | Cohort Prediction forecasts cumulative revenue, ROAS, ARPU, and payback through configured horizons up to D365. | [Ktrl](https://kohort.io/ktrl) markets LTV forecasting and predictive ROAS for mobile gaming. |
| How should I evaluate the model? | Managed setup includes a historical blind backtest on the app's data. | Request a backtest for the same app, cutoff, revenue definition, and horizon before comparing results. |
| What campaign action is supported? | Forecast views inform the team's decisions; no equivalence to Ktrl's daily bidding engine is claimed. | Ktrl documents daily network-specific bidding strategies and targets. |
| What should the creative team try? | Analyze your attributes, research competitor creatives, and develop ideas and experiment briefs in Creative Lab. | The cited Ktrl material centers on UA optimization. Verify any creative-research or briefing requirements in a demo. |
| What is required to get started? | Pseudonymous user identity, behavior, revenue, and acquisition context are mapped during forecasting setup. | Confirm the data integration, history, and operating workflow required for the proposed Kohort product. |

Missing detail in a public page is not proof of a missing feature. The table identifies what to demonstrate, not a blanket feature-absence verdict.

Synthetic decision example

## A forecast and a creative brief answer different questions

**All amounts and forecasts below are synthetic.** Imagine two equally funded acquisition cohorts. Looking only at early ROAS would favor A; the forecast suggests B deserves investigation. Neither row explains which creative element to change.

| Synthetic cohort | Spend | Observed D7 revenue | Observed D7 ROAS | Forecast D90 revenue | Forecast D90 ROAS |
| ---------------- | ------- | ------------------- | ---------------- | -------------------- | ----------------- |
| A | $10,000 | $4,000 | 40% | $9,000 | 90% |
| B | $10,000 | $3,000 | 30% | $12,000 | 120% |

Each ROAS is revenue divided by the same cohort's spend. B's forecast is a prediction to validate, not realized profit. The table excludes margins and costs beyond acquisition, and equal spend does not make the cohorts a randomized experiment.

The growth team now has two tasks. First, assess whether B's forecast is reliable enough to support a budget decision. Second, inspect creative and attribute performance under a relevant scope and develop the next creative hypothesis. Competitor research can widen that second task by revealing approaches the app's recent library does not contain.

Lemon supports both tasks. It does not infer that B's creative caused the forecast difference or automatically transfer a cohort forecast into an asset-level claim. That separation keeps the creative brief useful and the financial decision interpretable.

Your evaluation protocol

## Compare models with a backtest you can reproduce

### Fix the information available at prediction time

Choose mature historical cohorts and an earlier prediction cutoff. Hide the later events from both systems. Agree on install dates, revenue streams, gross or net revenue, and the same forecast horizon.

### Keep the hard cohorts in the result

Ask which cohorts received a prediction and which did not. Review errors by source, country, and cohort size where samples allow. A favorable overall number can hide the segments on which you actually move budget.

### Test the decision, not just the average error

Compare the forecast with matured revenue and inspect the scale, hold, or cut decisions it would have supported. Use the [cohort forecast backtest audit](https://lemon-ai.com/resources/mobile-app-cohort-forecast-backtest) to check leakage, coverage, and misleading accuracy summaries.

The additional reason to choose Lemon

## Give the creative team a next step of its own

Lemon's [Competitor Insights](https://lemon-ai.com/competitor-analysis) analyzes public ads from Google, Meta, and TikTok and compares their patterns with your library. [Attribute Analysis](https://lemon-ai.com/attribute-analysis) investigates creative choices against your own results. Creative Lab turns supported findings into app-specific concepts and briefs with their evidence attached.

That combination matters when the next growth meeting needs both a budget view and a creative plan. Your team can examine what may pay back, then separately investigate what to make next. For the forecasting mechanism and setup, see [Cohort Prediction](https://lemon-ai.com/predictive-analytics) and the [cohort forecasting guide](https://lemon-ai.com/resources/cohort-revenue-forecasting).

Scope and commercial terms

## Questions before choosing a Kohort alternative

### Is Lemon more accurate than Kohort?

We do not claim that. Accuracy numbers from different apps, horizons, cutoffs, and exclusion rules are not directly comparable. Use a matched historical evaluation on your app to choose.

### Does buying Creative Intelligence activate forecasts?

No. Cohort Prediction requires managed setup and separate activation. Lemon currently lists a $1,399 one-time account setup and $679 per month per app for that capability. Creative Intelligence has its own subscription; check the [current pricing](https://lemon-ai.com/#pricing) for the combined scope.

### When should I shortlist Kohort first?

When the decisive requirement is the daily bidding and predictive UA workflow Ktrl documents. Shortlist Lemon when you also need creative research, ideas, briefs, and asset analysis as part of the same growth team's work.

Evaluate Lemon on your app

## Bring a forecast decision and a creative question

Review the data your forecast would need, how its backtest would be judged, and how your creative team can find its next experiment.
